Description/Directions: The first 2.2 miles is an "out and back" and then there are two loops at the far end which can be run in various ways to add mileage. The terrain is similar to Bastrop State park with some rolling hills and lots of pine trees. There are restrooms with showers near the trail head.
Directions to Buescher: Take highway 71 past Bastrop and exit on Farm Road 153 (about 33 miles past Bergstrom airport). There is also a Buescher State Park sign at this exit. Turn left on Farm Road 153. The park entrance is on the left about 1/2 mile down 153. Turn left into the park. Right after the park headquarters go to the right on Park road 1E and follow the signs to trailhead parking. Buescher State Park has a $3 per person entry fee.
Scenic Route to Buescher: From Bastrop State Park take Park Road 1C to Buescher. The winding road is about 12 miles long. The scenic route is slower and would be best enjoyed on the way home.
