McKinney Roughs LCRA Park
Maps:
Miles of Trails: 20 (some trails may have been eliminated because of development)
Description/Directions:
East out of Austin on 71, pass the airport. Look for the sign (McKinney Roughs State Park) on the left about 7 miles from Austin. There is not much around this entrance but trees. If you get to Bastrop, you have gone too far.

WINDMILL RANCH ACCESS: Pope Bend Rd is the left (west) boundary of the park. Turn at the median for the park entrance and come back to the next road on the right. It is Pope Bend. Go north on Pope Bend for approx 3 miles. It is on the summitt of a decent rise in the road on the right. It is a dirt road. A honor pay pax is there as well as maps of the park. Drive in and park here. The trail head starts there also. We typically use this entrance, because the Main entrance does not open until 9am and we usually start earlier than that.

MAIN PARK ENTRANCE: park at the visitor parking lot. The trail access is behind the ranger building.

SURFACE: Very short and steep single track trails on the hills in the area behind the ranger station leading down to the river. The remainder of the park is more jeep road and rolling hills.

NOTES: Water at the ranger station only. No water crossings, but very muddy clay on a wet day. We try to avoid these trails when it's raining.
