Brookings Marathon, Brookings, SD. Most of the course is asphalt, with grass adjoining the pavement in many areas for runners who prefer an alternative surface. The course is flat, with a gentle grade thrown in here and there to keep things interesting. With the exception of Larson Hill (a 35' high hill that you could walk up and down in a minute) the entire course stays between 1595 and 1680 feet of elevation and never changes more than 40 feet over a single mile. Frank Livaudais is registered for the marathon.
TIMTAM Central States Mothers Marathon, Ames IA. The course is a very flat 5.25 mile loop, all on paved park trails mostly within Brookside Park. The marathon is a total of 5 laps, which adds 55 yards to regulation marathon. This will be Frank Livaudais' second marathon on his back-to-back weekend.
Miwok 100K Trail Race, Marin Headlands, CA. The course is very hilly with approximately 10,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain and has spectacular views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Mt. Tamalpais, Tomales Bay and the Point Reyes National Seashore. It is a modified out and back run mostly fire roads and single track trails with approximately three miles on roads. Meredith Terranova completed Miwok again this year.
Cornbelt Running Club 24 Hour Run, North Scott High School Track, Eldridge, IA. The whole race is run on a 400 meter all-weather track. The average temperture this time of year is low 48, & high 69. Karen Riddle completed 71.48 miles.
The MAZE at Walnut Creek, Austin, TX. This is the first race in the 2008 Rogue Trail Series, which is part of the Vasque North American Trail Tour. The course winds through a challenging mess of trees, crosses a few creeks, climbs a few hills, but mostly follows a well worn and very confusing labyrinth of trails. Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, Oklahoma City, OK. The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is unlike any other marathon. It combines the intensely personal challenges of running a marathon with the emotion of a shared national tragedy. The OKC Marathon is not about runners, it is about life. Club members completing the marathon include: Brian Hoover, Clarence Lucas, Thomas Okazaki, & Tony Thompson.
The Delaware Trail Marathon, White Clay Creek State Park, DE. This is a trail marathon, it is more difficult terrain and a slower finish time than a road marathon. The course is marked with spray chalk on the ground, survey flags through meadow areas, pie plates on trees, and arrow signs to clarify turns at trail junctions. The course is two circuits around the Triple Crown half-marathon course. Jeffrey Linwood, & Michelle Wolpert traveled to Delaware & completed the marathon.
Zane Grey Highline Trail 50, Payson, AZ. The race is run on the Highline Trail, which is within the Highline National Recreation Trail Area. The trail, with magnificent views & cool canyons, can be very rocky for long stretches. There are several water crossings, and a lot of downed trees to climb over. Nicole Strong completed the 50 miler at Zane Grey.
Rocky Hill Ranch 25K, 50K, & 50mi, Smithville,TX The course is tough & twisted single track & jeep road with aid stations every five miles. The 25km is one 25km loop, the 50km two 25km loops, & the 50mi is three 25km loops plus a 3.5mi out-n-back. Club members completing Rocky Hill include:

Greenland Trail 50K, 25K, 8M, Greenland, CO. The course is located within over 3,000 acres of the Greenland Open Space. Part of the Colorado Front Range Trail, the Greenland Trail joins into the Old Territorial Road, connecting the old Greenland Town site to Palmer Lake. The course passes through native grasslands, by ponds, through rolling Gamble oak hills and skirts ponderosa pine forests allowing for outstanding views of Pikes Peak and the surrounding buttes. Jon Teisher finished the 50K at Greenland.
Boston Marathon, Boston, MA. The course starts in the rural New England town of Hopkinton and follows Route 135 through Ashland, Framingham, Natick, and Wellesley to where Route 16 joins Route 135. It continues on Route 16 through Newton Lower Falls to Commonwealth Avenue, turning right at the fire station onto Commonwealth which is Route 30. It continues on Commonwealth through the Newton Hills, bearing right at the reservoir onto Chestnut Hill Avenue to Cleveland Circle. The route then turns left onto Beacon St. continuing to Kenmore Square, and then follows Commonwealth Avenue inbound. The course turns right onto Hereford St. then left onto Boylston St., finishing near the John Hancock Tower in Copley Square.
