HCTR Race Referendum After a discussion at the August monthly meeting, the Board and the club members who were present decided to submit the idea of putting on a HCTR Race Event to the entire membership for a vote. The general concept is to have an event which would feature a 50K, but also have a 25K and perhaps even a 10K to draw entrants and expose more of the running community to trail running (as that is the mission of the club). The Race Committee made some preliminary contacts with possible race venues and received several positive responses. Some of the possible sites include Pedernales, Camp of the Eagles, Buescher State Park and Bastrop State Park. Bastrop State Park is very interested in our putting on a trail race there, but there are parking limitations. In any event this is not something that can be done by a small group of people. If the general membership is not willing to commit to this effort, then the Board does not want to pursue this further. We need your vote. By voting YES, you are agreeing that the club should go forward with an HCTR signature event (most likely sometime in Spring or Fall of 2009) AND by voting YES, you agree to commit at least 4 hours of volunteer time to the event. Listed below are the general areas for volunteers.  If you do vote YES, please indicate which general area in which you would like to volunteer. PLEASE vote, even if you vote “NO”. The Board would really appreciate any input and a NO vote tells us whether or not we should continue our efforts in this area or refocus to other matters.
