Next Club Meeting: HCTR By-laws Amendment Vote: Membership Renewal Term

At the next club meeting held at Double Dave’s on July 9th (Monday), at 7pm, we need as many folks in attendance as we can get. We have an important by-law to pass for the club (or not pass).

The Board of HCTR proposes to amend the by-laws with respect to the term of membership and renewal.

The current provision of the by-laws states as follows:

  • Section 4.2 The period of membership, called the “Membership Year”, shall run for 12 months, from February 1 of a given year to January 31 of the following year.
  • Section 4.3 The initial period of membership shall run from the date an individual application is processed until the end of the current Membership Year. At the start of the next Membership Year, an individual may renew his or her annual membership for 12 months, and thereafter every Membership Year.

    • The Board proposes to amend the by-laws to read as follows:

  • Section 4.2 The period of membership will be for one 12 month period from the time the application is processed.
  • Section 4.3 will be deleted.

    • This change is a return to the original language of the membership term in the Club’s original by-laws. The current language was instituted to facilitate the then-existing web-based renewal process. The Board believes that this change will reduce costs and provide an easier tracking procedure. Please attend the club meeting on July 9 to vote on this proposed amendment.
