2012 Rick Gastelum Memorial Trail Run

I want to extend an invitation to everyone to join Jim Balthazar and I on a run on Saturday July 7th to remember our friend Rick Gastelum. For those who may not have known Rick he was caught in a flash flood on a night run in the Barton Creek Greenbelt in July ’07 and drowned. He was a great friend to many of us and he is missed dearly.

AENA Gastelum Scholarship

It’ll be a no-drop run starting at the Hill of Life at 6am. Jim will lead us on a favorite run of his through familiar trails toward Travis Country. We’ll have several gallons of water stashed at the Moondance entrance. From there we’ll proceed to what I call Rick’s Spot, it’s where his body was found. From there we’ll head to Taco Deli to get replenished. This run should be about 20 miles on the return to the Hill of Life.
