Volunteer Work at Bastrop State Park

From VP Olga:

I took my son to Bastrop park this morning to volunteer, where HCTR member Brian Kuhn was as well. We donned our HCTR hats for a picture for their website. It was heartbreaking driving through the park on roads with mail boxes and drive-ways ending on an empty foundations…hits hard to actually see it with my own eyes. We did mulching over native seeds on burnt house sites. Barreling it over the land counts as a workout, right? Sweat was pouring down more than when I run! Anyway, please consider to come and help a bit, give 2 hrs one day of your time. The group was may be a dozen people, and they claimed it’s their biggest yet. Sad. The work seems to be almost unnoticed, but back-breaking and very much needed. There was a local TV station YNN channel 8 there, brian got interview and we all were taped. If you find it – let us know here!

P.P.S. The main loop of 7 miles is re-opened for visitors. Those who went say it’s weird at least to be on it and not realize where you are.
